After days of rumors, Cuneo Volley has made official the arrival in the blue and white of Alexander Strehlau: from tomorrow the French spiker born in 2004 will move from Tours Volley-Ball to Cuneo Volley and from Thursday he will be in the gym with the Cuneo team wearing the number 10 shirt.
The sports director Paolo Brugiafreddo thus announces the engagement: “The company has decided to intervene on the market. As I had already said at the time of the release of Gergiewe would have been vigilant waiting for an opportunity if necessary. We didn’t move earlier because we wanted to make sure there were no different needs. The moment became appropriate when this possibility appeared, a truly very talented boy, at 21 years old already in the National Frenchman, winner of the French title last season where he was the absolute protagonist, replacing Gergye in the starting role. He’s only been playing volleyball for four years, he has very impressive heights. We are happy to also give gifts to Feral a friend, because I know that they have a very good relationship, as they were teammates in the national team and have cultivated this friendship even off the pitch. We are trying to make sure he can be drafted for the game on January 3rd Piacenzabut we are not sure because it depends on the bureaucratic membership procedures of both the French Federation and the European Federation, for the Italian one everything is already concluded. Obviously we are very curious, very satisfied, it is a graft on which we also have future prospects, the agreement was signed in these terms, we can’t wait to see him in the gym and that he can give us a lot of help.”
The transalpine athlete took his first steps in the Club Harness Volley-Ball in the 2021/2022 season and from the following year he immediately landed in LNV among the ranks of Tourcoing Lille Metropole CFC. The last two years at Tours Volley-Ball have seen him emerge exponentially.
Also for Alexandre this is the first experience outside his own country and above all in the Italian Super League championship: “When I learned that Cuneo was interested in me, I was very happy because for me the Italian championship has been a dream and above all a goal since I was little.”
What were your first impressions?
“I really enjoyed talking to the president because he made me understand that he had faith in me and I sincerely hope not to disappoint him. My friend Nathan Feral who plays there also spoke very well to me. ami Nathan Feral qui est avec vous et qui m’en a dit que du bien”.
What do you expect from this experience?
“As for my expectations, I hope to give the maximum possible contribution to the team and, above all, to learn as much as possible from the Italian championship and working methods.
From the first training session of 2026, Thursday 1 January (h: 6-8pm), Alexandre will be at the Cuneo arena to meet his teammates and the Cuneo public.
