Paola is a truck driver with a tough and direct characterused to living in solitude and not giving discounts to anyone, not even herself. Driving his truck, which bears his father’s name and preserves his emotional legacy, he travels tirelessly along the roads of Italy. A few days before New Year’s Eve, he is one step away from an important goal: win the national title of Truck Driver of the Year, a goal that represents redemption and pride for her.

Behind the sharp irony and rough exterior, however, Paola hides a profound sensitivity. On long journeys find company in the romantic podcast Cupid’s Voicefalling in love with the voice of his host, Lucio, without ever having met him. Fate decides to intervene at the most beautiful moment: an accident puts the truck out of action and the car involved is, ironically, Lucio’s. To make everything even more complicated there is Carlo, a polite NCC driver, with a kind manner and an unresolved past, who Paola never misses an opportunity to tease. Forced to travel together to find a spare part, the three give life to an unusual road movie made of misunderstandingsdiscussions, confidences and bonds that arise when you least expect it.
Where the film with Chiara Francini was filmed
The film was shot entirely in Calabria, enhancing some of the most evocative places in the province of Cosenza. Filming involved various locations, including Rende, Taverna, Zumpano, Castrolibero and San Pietro in Guarano, which form the natural backdrop to the protagonists’ journey.
The Calabrian landscapes, with their winding roads, villages and authentic views, become an integral part of the narrative, accompanying the characters on their emotional journey. The choice to set the film in these areas gives realism and warmth to the story, strengthening the sense of movement and transformation that runs through the entire story. A simple but sincere story not to be missed.
