Alfonso Signorini suspends himself from Mediaset. A decision that comes after the case raised by Fabrizio Corona in his ‘Falsissimo’ format. At the center of the story are the claims according to which there is an alleged “system” to encourage the entry of competitors, or aspiring competitors, into ‘Big Brother’a program hosted by Signorini himself.
Legali Signorini: “Defamatory and slanderous campaign”
“It is the intention of this defense to report every detail of this slanderous and defamatory campaign, orchestrated with the clear intent of destroying the honorability, respectability and brilliant career of Dr. Alfonso Signorini” announce the lawyers Daniela Missaglia and Domenico Aiello, who have recently taken on the defense and representation of Alfonso Signorini, in civil and criminal matters, “in the context of the complex affair which sees him as the victim of serious and continuous criminal conduct”.
To deal with “these very serious illicit conduct, which is evident to all”, the lawyers write in reference to the case, raised by Corona, “and above all the widespread reverberation which they find in some nonchalant media, Dr. Alfonso Signorini, a professional who has built an entire career as a journalist, author, director and television presenter with scruple, seriousness and self-sacrifice, is forced to suspend as a precaution all his ongoing editorial commitments with Mediaset
“. The decision, the lawyers explain, has already been communicated to the Cologno Monzese company.
“The main person responsible for this surreal and virulent aggression is known, a person who – despite previous criminal convictions – today would like to take on the role of judge and public prosecutor, imposing his own rules for personal gain and certainly not for the interests of justice”. “All of this – the lawyers continue – at the cost of irreparable and enormous damage to the intended victims. The reconstruction proposed to the detriment of Dr. Alfonso Signorini is devoid of any proof or truth; we will act in every instance so that not only is the maliciously malicious conduct stopped, but all the competitors and beneficiaries of this crime are brought to justice, also towards those who favor its continuation with the never-silent intention of continuing to obtain benefits, advertising or revenues in various forms from such illicit activities”. They then announce: “We will also act without delay against sponsors, search engines, sites and web channels that amplify the effects of criminal conduct. Those who still offer showcases and deals of this kind today place economic interests before respecting constitutional rights and the sanctity of the private lives of others, indeed they do not recognize any value in them. They too are the true co-authors of the crime and therefore responsible for the unjust damage that Dr. Alfonso Signorini is currently suffering.”
Mediaset welcomes, it writes in a note, “Alfonso Signorini’s decision to suspend his editorial commitment as a precaution, given the need to protect himself and the people involved in the media affair in which he was reluctantly involved”. “Mediaset will act with determination in all locations on the exclusive basis of objective elements and verified facts to counter the dissemination of defamatory or slanderous contents and reconstructions, to protect respect for people, facts and its own interests. As part of a primary listed European group, Mediaset has the duty to protect the integrity of its activities and editorial products, as well as its reputation towards the market and the public”.
At the same time, Mediaset “reiterates that those who work for the company are required to comply with clear principles of correctness, responsibility and transparency, as defined by the Code of Ethicswhich is applied without exception. All investigations and checks are underway to ensure compliance.”
