After the meetings held in Milan and Ferrara, it will be held tomorrow, 18 June, in Lamezia Terme, in Palazzo Nicotera in Piazza T. Campanella, from 2pm to 5pm the final meeting, “Caffè Alzheimer Diffuso”, a support network serving the community, organized by the Maratona Alzheimer ETS Foundation, the Italian Association of Psychogeriatrics (AIP) and the Tecnopolo Bologna, with the support of the Association for Neurogenetic Research, which will lead to the start of the project and the opening of the Alzheimer Cafés in September. The objective is to share a common working method and guidelines that can be immediately used in operations within the 60 participating Alzheimer Cafés in 16 Italian regions. Caregivers, volunteers and all those who deal with Alzheimer’s on a daily basis, in fact, experience it fatigue produced by dedication to a good cause which however is very complex and difficult, they try frustrationcaused by the lack of awareness found in the interlocutors and they feel a sense of disorientation in the difficulty of finding certain and concrete points of reference.
The meeting, which will have an operational nature, will analyze the difficulties and obstacles to arrive, together, at a shared vision and the identification of useful ideas and tools.

The Maratona Alzheimer ETS Foundation, with the scientific collaboration of the Italian Association of Psychogeriatrics (AIP) and the Institute of Neuroscience of Padua of the National Research Council (CNR) created the first network of Italian Alzheimer’s Cafés with the pilot study called “Widespread Alzheimer’s Café Project”. The awareness of the importance of networking, which emerged from the results of this study, pushed the Foundation to create the first edition of the project which will start in September 2024, from the National Alzheimer’s Café Forum which will take place in Cesenatico, as part of the week of work and initiatives that the Foundation dedicates to Alzheimer’s and dementia every year. The project will bring together up to 60 public and private associations and bodies from all over Italy who will propose a national opening of Alzheimer’s Cafés on 18 September.
The Tecnopolo of Bologna-Ozzano, with the support of ART-ER (Regional Agency for sustainable development through innovation and skills) has developed a path in parallel to the “Caffè Alzheimer Diffuso” project, called “Building Aware Networks” whose objective is to strengthen the ability of local associations and involve the various stakeholders so that the Good Alzheimer’s Cause acquires more weight, visibility and greater possibilities for dialogue with bodies and institutions. Networking it is the most effective way to join forces and draw energy from discussion and sharing ideas.
The Foundation thanks the Association for Neurogenetic Research for its support in the organization.
