It was held, in recent days, in Catanzaro, the services conference convened by the Extraordinary Commissioner for State Road 106 Massimo Simonini, to decide the future of the Sibari-Rossano section of State Road 106 Ionian. Given the presence, among others, of the Calabria Region and Anas, the mayor, Giovanni Papasso, took the floor reiterating the opinion expressed in recent days when the municipal administration «had protested because to the detriment of Cassano a new mugging was taking place, that of the failure to double the State Road 534 from the entrance to the new Sibari-Rossano road up to the crossroads of the Sibari Lakes, which was added to the subtraction of the Caccianova junction (area of the Municipality of Cassano between Sibari and Lauropoli) from the Third Megalotto Sibari-Roseto project and the related base camp which was originally planned in Sibari. Decisions that would create and have already partially created damage to the territory.”
In his speech, Mayor Papasso asked for «the recovery of the Caccianova junction in the Terzo Megalotto, fundamental for the territory, and spoke of clear injustice in reference to the failure to double the remaining part of State Road 534 because – he explained – it is a fundamental work to bring the new road infrastructures closer to the nautical complex of the Sibari Lakes and, above all, to the Museum and the archaeological park of Sibari”. After the mayor of Cassano, the President of the Calabria Region took the floor and endorsed the requests received from Papasso and urged Anas to work so that «the Caccianova junction is restored in the construction of Terzo Megalotto Sibari-Roseto». A harmony that was also substantial regarding the doubling of the remaining part of State Road 534 from the junction of the new road to the Sibari Lakes crossroads. In the area, in fact, there is an indirect constraint that seems possible to review. Also in this case, the Region will support the Municipality of Cassano in asking the Ministry to modify the restriction.
Papasso and Occhiuto also agreed in asking Anas to maintain the doubling in the economic framework, as originally envisaged by the project and put it to tender as it is now awaiting the arrival of the new opinion from the Ministry and the Superintendence of Cosenza. Anas, for its part, has taken note of the requests of the Municipality of Cassano and the Calabria Region and has made it known that “it will maintain the doubling in the economic framework and will also work towards the restoration of the Caccianova junction”.
