A huge fire it broke out on the afternoon of Thursday 6 June 2024 in the company Apulian recoveries Of Modugno, in the province of Bari. The company, which deals with waste recycling and is located in the industrial area, has already been involved in major fires twice in recent months.
Fire at Recuperi Pugliesi in Modugno
The alarm for the flames at Recuperi Pugliesi in Modugno, just outside Bari, was raised on the afternoon of Thursday 6 June.
In fact, a large fire broke out in the company which quickly engulfed the stored waste, mostly plastic.

It is not yet clear what triggered the flames and where they started from, but it is feared that, given the type of material found in the area, the flames could develop toxic fumes.
Alert for toxic cloud
The mayor of Modugno, Nicola Bonasia, asked for the intervention of ARPA to carry out a sampling of the area.
Meanwhile, a dense black cloud was spotted by several citizens also in the Bari neighborhoods surrounding the town, but at the moment no damage or injured or intoxicated people have been reported.

Relief at work and inconveniences
Four fire brigade teams from the Bari provincial command are at work on site.
Meanwhile the Fal, the Appulo Lucane Railwayswas forced for the umpteenth time to interrupt the line from Bari to Altamura and vice versa.

The fire on Thursday 6 June 2024 was yet another fire involving Recuperi Pugliesi. In fact, the Modugno company was the protagonist of other fires within a year.
The first had occurred in January 2023, with serious damage. On the occasion of that fire it took three days to put it out. The other, however, had been registered in September 2023.
