Following meticulous investigative activity coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Benevento, the investigators of the Flying Squad of the local Police Headquarters, this morning, executed an order for the application of the personal precautionary measure of the ban on approaching the offended person and to the places usually frequented by the same, issued by the GIP of the Court of Benevento at the request of the local Public Prosecutor’s Office, against a 67 years old of the province of Beneventoseriously suspected of the crime of persecutory acts.
The investigations were started following the complaint filed by the offended party on 04.28.2023 who, after having already denounced the current suspect on multiple occasions – for whom on 18 April 2020 a conviction was issued for the crime for p. from the art. 612 bis cod. pen. – She reported that she had been the victim of further serious episodes of threats and harassment, such as to cause a persistent state of anxiety and fear, giving rise to a well-founded fear for her own safety and that of her family.
As stated by the victim, in recent times the person receiving today’s measure had been responsible for increasingly serious behaviour. In particular, the harassing behavior manifested itself with death threats and with a pursuit of the victim’s car, at close range with movements to the right and left of the road, in an attempt to overtake, gesticulating and shouting at the unfortunate victim. .
The rapid and meticulous investigation activity made it possible to gather serious evidence of a crime against the perpetrator of the reported conduct and the GIP at the Court of Benevento, accepting the request of the local Prosecutor’s Office, issued the application provision of the precautionary measure of the ban on approaching the offended persons and the places usually frequented by them, deemed necessary to curb the serious conduct carried out by the suspect.
The measure carried out today is a precautionary measure ordered during preliminary investigations, against which appeals are permitted, and the recipient of the same is a person subjected to investigations and therefore presumed innocent until the final sentence.
