He went through the toll booths of the Autostrada dei Laghi 172 times without paying the toll. He followed cars on the Telepass lanes and managed, with a very dangerous maneuver, to evade the toll booth system. Now the 22-year-old Swiss will have to answer for charges of aggravated fraud.
A system used for 10 months
The investigation was conducted by Como Prosecutor’s Office thanks to the contribution of the Busto Arsizio Traffic Police officers. The first report came last April when an Autostrade per l’Italia employee noticed a car with a Swiss license plate leaving the Grandate barrier in the Como area, taking advantage of the trail of the car in front. The section affected is that of the A9the motorway that runs from Lainate, in the province of Milan, to the state border with Switzerland.
According to what was reported by Il Giorno, the investigations would have shown Esmail E., this is the name of the 22-year-old resident in Lugano, using the trail trick 172 times from 18 April 2022 to 15 February this year. In the few seconds in which the barrier was raised to allow the passage of the first car, the Swiss motorist was approaching within a few centimetres. The irregular transits were all immortalized by the cameras that monitor the motorway toll booths day and night.
