“The trauma I’m feeling is indescribable, I just want to say that I’ve never been behind the wheel and that I’m very close to the victim’s family.” This is how Vito Loiacono replies, with a comment on Instagram, one of the boys driving the Lamborghini who crashed into the Smart yesterday afternoon in Rome with little Manuel, 5 years old, who died in the accident on board. Loiacono is part of The Borderline, a YouTube channel where they publish social challenges and ironic videos. After the identity of the drivers of the Lamborghini SUV involved in yesterday’s accident was revealed, Loiacono’s social profiles were filled with insults and negative comments. “Shame on you, you’re a poor loser,” writes one user. Or again: «Shame on you all. There are no words for what you’ve done.” Today it is the youtuber who responds directly to those who accuse him of being responsible for the death of little Manuel, claiming that he “never got behind the wheel”. This morning, the Rome prosecutor’s office announced that it was working to calculate the speed at which the youtubers’ car was traveling at the time of the accident. In the meantime, the police are trying to figure out if the five boys were recording a live video, which could then be posted on social media, which could help better define the dynamics of the accident.
