On Alessandro Impagnetiello’s phone, the number of his girlfriend is stored as Baby, accompanied by a little heart. But love, in their story, no longer existed. Only betrayals, lies and recriminations of a man who tried to struggle between two parallel relationships and subjected Giulia Tramontano to a psychological violence of falsehood and blackmail. On May 25, two days before being stabbed to death in their home in Senago, she tells him it’s over. They were expecting a child and he, who killed both of them, accused her of not being a good mother: «Do you really want to divide us even before giving birth to a child? Do you want him to be born with two parents already separated? But what a mother you are! Are you wondering that?», he writes to her.
LIPSTICK
Since Thursday Impagnatiello, a thirty-year-old barman, has been in San Vittore accused of aggravated voluntary homicide, concealment of a body and abortion without consent. He is in a cell for inmates at risk on the fifth ray, with no contact with other inmates. Manipulative personality, the prosecutors described him, and from the exchange of messages between him and Giulia since 9 May, his sneaky attitude emerges but also the lucidity with which he tries to deflect the investigation. He fakes his disappearance and overwhelms her with appeals to come back: “Tata, where are you?”
For months, his fiancée has known that Alessandro is not being sincere, she has doubts about the future of their relationship and on May 9, getting into the car to retrieve the keys to the moped, she finds a lipstick and asks her about it: «It’s not mine, so it belongs to someone who sat on the passenger side. Who got into the car?», she asks her boyfriend. He denies: “Nobody, I have no idea Juliet.” She presses on: «So how do I justify this women’s lipstick? Things don’t appear suddenly, a lipstick can’t grow in the car». Impagnatiello gets irritated: “I don’t know who it belongs to, how long it’s been there and why”. However, the girlfriend notices another detail, a pack of water moved from the front seat to the back seat. She corners him: «Who got into the car yesterday? Answer properly. I’m not a moron.” The companion continues to deny, Giulia truncates: «It was a pleasure Ale. We’ll settle the accounts when you come back.” The next day she doesn’t answer him, he implores her: «Giuliet please, don’t do that. I don’t want “each to their own way”, what the hell does that mean? I beg you”.
«THE VASE HAS BROKEN»
Between silences (by Giulia) and pleas (by Alessandro), we arrive at 25 May. The young woman is definitive: «I don’t want any more discussions, frustrations, anxieties and constant anger, leave me alone. I’m not happy and I would like to find my peace of mind. Enough”. Impagnetiello does not give up: «And you want to find peace of mind by putting me aside».
His fiancée reiterates his decision, “we share a house as long as necessary”, he pretends to be a bad mother: “Do you think it’s normal to talk like this with a baby in your belly?”. Giulia does not give up: «It doesn’t seem normal for a person to reach this limit. I don’t trust you and never will. By now the vase is broken and I don’t want to fix it again». On May 27, Giulia Tramontano meets Impagnetiello’s lover who, among other things, tells her that on the 20th they were together for her birthday. She had told her partner to go to a barbecue with a friend.
“You were having a good time, you’re a dog. There is no worse person than you. Say hello to Thiago», the child they are waiting for, «you will see him with binoculars». Five hours later he kills her. And until the day of the arrest he sends her messages in misdirection format. On 31 May she wrote: «I have journalists who are harassing me at home, please, it’s unlivable like this. My mom cries, my brother too. We are on the fourth day, stop with this story and beat a beat. I beg”.
