Rino Gaetano was one of the most influential Italian songwriters. He was born in Crotone in 1950 and during his career he released 17 albums before dying in a tragic accident in 1981.

Rino Gaetano: biography

Rino Gaetano was born in Crotone in 1950 and moved to Rome at the age of 10. Close to music and theater he had several reference artists such as Jannacci, Battisti, De André and Celentano. He made his debut by recording his very first single on a 45 rpm and the following year his album “Ingresso Libero” was released. In the following two years, “Mio brother is an only child” and “Aida” come out, in 1978 he released what many consider his best album “Nuntereggae più”.

The singer-songwriter had a brother and sister – Giuseppe and Anna. Rino Gaetano was engaged to Amelia Conte who was supposed to become his wife. On June 2, 1981, Rino Gaetano died in a car accident.

Unfortunately Rino Gaetano died on June 2, 1981 following a road accident in Rome in via Nomentana. Over the years many hypotheses have been made – sometimes conspiracy theorists – about the death of the Crotone singer-songwriter more than forty years ago.
