It was 1990 when Angelo and Miriam got married, you can see them smiling and in love in a photo that tells the passage of time in its colors and prints. 33 long years have passed since then. Angelo Farina and Miriam Visintin they had met in the disco in their twenties, fell in love immediately and got married. It was the second Christmas Eve they spent together as husband and wife, when on December 24, 1991, Miriam’s car skidded onto the road (sliding on the frozen surface) and hit a pole. Miriam’s head wounds were very deep, the doctors told Angelo that in all probability her wife would not survive the night. Instead Miriam remained alive, but motionless: from that day on she entered a state of coma that she would never leave.
From that day on, her husband Angelo stayed by her forever, every day, even several times a day “When I married her I swore to stand by her through thick and thin”he told There Press. He caressed her, talked to her, put on the music she liked.
Over the years Angelo has rebuilt his life with another woman, had children, but has always been close to his first great love, until May 10 of this year. Miriam, who was born in the Veneto town of Riese 57 years ago, two months ago she had been hospitalized in Bassano del Grappa for a pleural effusion. Angelo had to say a last goodbye to his beloved, that of a life together but not lived, the one postponed every day with courage. “She Finally she had peace for her injustice of her,” she commented. «I’m happy for her – he said – finally she’s up there in peace and in paradise. I think she has suffered a lot in these years. We had only been married a year and a half when tragedy struck. We were young and had so many projects. She was very fond of children.
