Bologna – “A person who taught us to always place attention to the weakest at the center of our commitment. Ahead of his time, he explained how the need to create work must also be accompanied by attention to the quality of the work itself, because where there is no good work there are no just, supportive and future-oriented societies”.

So the president of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, remember the professor Marco Biagi, on the eve of the anniversary of the assassination at the hands of the New Red Brigades, which took place on March 19, 2002.

“The entire community of Emilia-Romagna – he continues – clings to his wife Marina Orlandi Biagi, his sons Lorenzo and Francesco, his sister Francesca and all his loved ones”.

A memory that for this land is not only memory, but a gaze towards tomorrow: two weeks after his killing, to fulfill a wish of his wife, the rector of theUniversity of Modena and Reggio Emiliain which Marco Biagi taught, the director of the Department of Economics and some colleagues laid the foundations for the establishment of the Marco Biagi Foundation.

Active since 2003, the Foundation is an instrumental body of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, a founding member together with the family, and represents a meeting point between universities, public bodies and businesses, contributing to the promotion and consolidation of the socio-economic and cultural fabric of the territory.

“By promoting the relationship between universities, institutions, associations and the world of work, the Biagi Foundation carries forward Marco Biagi’s project with great determination, in the operational and concrete tradition of the Emilia-Romagna people: that of accompanying entry into the world of work through training and orientation, keeping knowledge and doing together, with the aim of a widespread but fair development. A lesson that the Emilia-Romagna Region has also tried to make its own with the ‘Pact for work and for the climate’ signed with all the social partners”.
