Planes collide and crash on houses: fear and death in Guidonia

Tragedy in the skies of Guidonia Montecelioin the province of Rome: two planes ultralight aircraft of the Italian Air Force collided in flight during a training mission, falling near the military airport of the municipality located north-east of the capital. The accident occurred around 11:00 this morning, Tuesday 7 March. Both pilots on board the aircraft, two Siai Marchetti S-208, are deceased in the clash.

The remains of the two planes crashed, one in Viale Roma and another near the homes in via delle Margherite, where a car was also hit and a long column of black smoke rose. The Ares 118 doctors and the police went to the scene.

The dynamics of the air battle

The two military pilots who lost their lives in the air crash in Guidonia were part of the 60th Stormo, they were in a training mission pre-planned and “they would be collidedfor reasons not currently known”, announces the Air Force. At the moment no other victims have been reported.

Condolences from state leaders

Immediate the message of condolences by the institutions. “The news of the death of the two Air Force pilots in the plane crash that took place in Guidonia, near Rome, fills us with sadness. On behalf of the government, I express my deepest condolences and my closeness to the families, colleagues of the 60th Wing and the entire Air Force corps. Our prayers go out to them“, wrote the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in a note.

Condolences also from the President of the Senate Ignazio La Russa. “It is with deep sorrow that I learned the terrible news of the death of two pilots in a plane crash near Guidonia. My deepest condolences go out to the families and leaders of the Air Forcethe state’s second incumbent said.
