Will Sissi season 3 be there? What do we know
Descriptive text here

For two years now it has been one of the Canale 5 holiday appointments, and who knows if it won’t be one for Christmas 2023 as well. We’re talking about Sisithe event TV series that debuted in 2021 simultaneously in Germany and Italy, whose second season ends with the last two episodes aired on Wednesday 4 January 2023. But will Sissi 3 be there?

Sissi 3, what we know about the third season

Unlike the second season, which was renewed by the German network rtl extension even before the first aired, the third has not yet received the official go-ahead, this despite the fact that in Germany the six episodes of the second cycle of the series were broadcast on 27 and 28 December 2022.

However, it must be said that the history ofEmpress Elisabeth of Austria-Hungary (Dominique Devenport) is really very long and there is still so much to say. The last episode of the second season is set between 1866 and 1867, concluding with the coronation of Franz (Jannik Schümann) with Sissi by her side.

We have yet to see Sissi’s story, for example, her health problems related to a form of anorexia nervosa, but also the birth of her last daughter, Maria Valeria, considered by all to be Sissi’s favourite. And then, moving forward in time, the tragic epilogue of 1898, with the assassination by the Italian anarchist Luigi Lucani. In short, narratively speaking there are still about thirty years to tell.

Sissi, ratings in Germany and Italy

To hold back RTL on an immediate renewal of the series, however, there is the question you listen. The second season, in Germany, had good ratings, but down compared to the first, which had exceeded 2 million viewers. The first episode of the second season, on RTL, was followed by 1.4 million viewers; while the other two from 1.3 million.

A physiological drop, which also concerned Italy: if the first season had in fact had ratings of around 3 million viewers with a share always higher than 14%, the first four episodes of the second did not go beyond 2.3 million people and 13% share.

However, there is also the vision to consider stream: in this case, Sissi 2 was a success for RTL+, the platform of the German network, with the best debut ever for a new season. However, the numbers relating to Mediaset Infinity are not known, where it is possible to see both the first and second seasons.
