In a recent ssway commissioned by Apollo Tyresconducted on a sample of 1000 motoristsan interesting picture emerges on the criteria of Choosing replacement tires. The results, in fact, reveal a growing attention towards driving comfort, to the same extent as that reserved for performance. Also safety is one of the main criteria for choosing tires.

COMFORT VS PERFORMANCE: THE CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING TYRES

When asked about what features are priority in choosing tires of replacement, the 35% of the interviewees who said they “liked” or “enjoyed” the guide indicated “driving refinement and low noise“. This data is particularly significant when compared with il 25% which instead privileged “high performance grip and traction“This trend underlines how comfort is becoming a determining factor for many motorists, even those driving high-performance vehicles.

TYRE PREFERENCES: COMFORT FIRST

One of the most interesting findings of the survey concerns the Tire size preference. A significant percentage of the interviewees, the 46%prefers to “a smaller wheel with a higher profile tyre”, believing that this provides greater comfort. On the contrary, the 40% has opted for “a bigger wheel and a low-profile tire,” appreciating its superior aesthetics.

SAFETY AND CONVENIENCE OF TYRES: A PRIORITY FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 IN 2

In addition to comfort and performance, two fundamental criteria emerge forcefully: “price/convenience” e “safety“. Both have been listed as priority from 45% of the interviewees. Next, 41% highlighted the importance of “consistent tread grip and traction throughout the year.” This data highlights how drivers are increasingly concerned with balancing costs, safety and performance throughout the year. Starting in 2024, wet grip testing of tires, even when worn, will become mandatory for approval, so drivers will be able to choose safer tires from the end of the year.

Yves Pouliquen, Group Head of Sales and Marketing di Apollo Tyrescommented: “Our survey shows that drivers of high-performance cars are looking for greater versatility from your tires. Many use the same car for the track and for fun driving weekends. The Ultrac Pro is the first tire that can effectively meet this wide range of requirements.”
