Another elderly woman from Rimini targeted by thieves. A script seen and reviewed, but which unfortunately continues to claim victims, especially among the most vulnerable. Two criminals went into action yesterday around 11:30 in via Pananti in Rimini, pretending to be gas technicians. With this trick, they managed to gain the trust of an eighty-year-old resident in the area, getting their hands on the contents of the safe located in her home. They fled, taking away jewelry and valuables. The value of the stolen goods is still being quantified, but the total loot could be around 20 thousand euros. The patrol cars of the Rimini Police Headquarters were on site, alerted by a neighbor, to whom the elderly woman turned after realizing she had been robbed. The facts are being examined by the police, who, thanks to the testimony of the victim of the theft – still very shaken and in shock from the bad experience – are trying to put together the pieces to trace the identity of the criminals.

According to an initial reconstruction, yesterday morning the lady was returning home when she was allegedly hooked by one of the scammers. While she was at the front door, the man approached her and offered to help her. As often happens in these cases, the criminal introduced himself as a distinguished person, with kind manners and an affable tone. He identified himself as a gas network technician busy carrying out surveys in the area. To make himself even more convincing, he wore a pair of gloves and a mask. The elderly woman agreed to open the door for him and let him into the apartment. At that point the thief asked to show her any safes present in the house, because – this is his version – they could have interfered with the surveys. It is not clear whether it was the elderly woman who opened the safe or whether the criminal somehow managed to force it. The fact is that he managed to get away with the stolen goods, after having remained inside the house for about 15 minutes, while his accomplice remained outside, acting as a lookout. The State Police has ordered a 360-degree investigation.
