Spectacular and at the same time scary accident yesterday at 5pm on the A14. A truck with a trailer was transporting paper, coming from Fabriano. Suddenly the vehicle skidded, probably due to a burst tire, caught fire and ended up in the ditch and in the lateral field with the flames spreading on the ground of the cultivated fields. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Great fear also for some farmers who were working in the nearby fields. The area is where the A14 crosses Bulgarnò between the Valle del Rubicone and Cesena toll booths. Immediately the farmers did not lose heart, they were not afraid of the flames and went to the cabin of the truck whose driver, partly alone and partly helped by the people who were working the land, miraculously came out of the vehicle almost unharmed. In fact he suffered minor injuries and was taken to the emergency room of the Bufalini hospital in Cesena.
The load of paper caught fire and teams of Firefighters, the 118 ambulance, the Forlì Highway Police and the staff of the Third Direction of the Bologna Trunk of Autostrade per l’Italia immediately arrived on the scene. The three lanes of the Rimini-Bologna motorway were immediately closed and long queues formed, making it necessary to install the mandatory exit at the Valle del Rubicone toll booth.
