The international association Iala has presented the award to Mayor Bucci

Genoa – The Mayor of Genoa Marco Bucci was given the Lighthouse of the Year Award at the Lanternathe prestigious recognition of Yala (International Association of marine aids to navigation and lighthouse authorities), the international association of marine aids to navigation and lighthouse authorities based in Paris. The ceremony took place this morning as part of the work of the World Day of Aids to Maritime Navigation 2024 (World Aids to Navigation Day), underway in Genoa until tomorrow.

“This recognition underlines the importance of Genoa in the international navigation panorama – declared the mayor Marco Bucci “During these two days, we will have the opportunity to explore in depth many of the central themes of this historic moment. We will discuss new technologies for navigation safety, best practices for managing lighthouses and other navigational aids, and strategies for protecting the marine environment. Only through international cooperation and shared commitment can we ensure a safe and sustainable future for maritime navigation.”

The Lantern’s candidacy a faro dell’anno “Iala Heritage Lighthouse of the Year 2024″ had been put forward by the Navy, which takes care of the management and operation of the national lighthouses.
