Milan office: what scenarios are expected?

Il 28 June an in-person meeting was held between the Administration and the employees of the Milan UT.

The Director General illustrated the contextual elements of what he defined as “a normal negotiation between Istat and Unioncamere” which owns the building.

The hypotheses that are put forward can be timed to the short, medium and long term. In particular, those presented Today can be defined as intermediate.

Director Zaccaria then illustrated the two hypotheses, both supported by the study of the spaces and the satisfaction of the current staff needs (number of employees, presence of the canteen, ADELE Laboratory stations, presence of the meeting room).

Given that Unioncamere needs to regain possession of the second floor, which is one of the two floors occupied by Istat staff, the first hypothesis places all the employees on one floor in rooms for two, three and four people, giving up the meeting room.

The second hypothesis involves the use of desk sharing on a floor, currently in a pilot phase for the Institute.

The positions of colleagues were then listened to, which highlighted several critical issues for both scenarios, but also the opportunity to remain in a convenient working context from a logistic point of view.

The Trade Unions:

  • they recognise the importance of the Administration listening to the various positions, even if late compared to the first communication by Unioncamere (July 2023);
  • they ask that a constructive dialogue be continued to ensure the well-being of workers;
  • at the moment they exclude the start of desk sharing which is still, as mentioned, in a pilot phase for some services that have voluntarily decided to join. Furthermore, the results of the pilot phase are not officially known;
  • they remain vigilant while waiting to analyze the developments of the negotiation and evaluate new possible hypotheses.
