The Carabinieri of the Latina company have notified a custodial order in prison, issued by the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Latina court, to Antonello Lovato, owner of the company where he was employed Satnam Singh31-year-old Indian laborer died following a serious accident at work in the Pontine area.
The crime in question, following the medical-legal consultation of the Latina prosecutor’s office, has been updated from the initial hypothesis of manslaughter to the current one of wilful homicide with eventual intent. The medical-legal consultation has in fact ascertained that the Indian, who died due to copious blood loss, if he had been rescued promptly would have “in all probability been saved – explain the Latina prosecutor’s office -. The worker’s conditions after the accident were so serious as to make the need for prompt assistance evident. At this stage it must therefore be considered – it is specified in the note – that the decision to omit the necessary assistance constituted acceptance of the risk of the lethal event and integrated the cause that directly determined the death”.
The investigations continue not only on the crime but also on the verification of the working conditions of the farm workers.
