A truck carrying furniture caught fire on the A4 near the Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza) motorway toll booth. The articulated lorry caught fire before the driver’s eyes: video of the firefighters’ rescue operations.

The truck driver managed to save himself by getting out of the articulated lorry just moments before it caught fire. A fire broke out this morning, shortly after 6:00, along the A4 motorway just before the new Montecchio Maggiore toll booth, in the direction of Verona. The firefighters’ video documented the extinguishing operations.

The tractor unit of the truck carrying packaged furniture to be assembled caught fire and the intervention of the fire brigade was necessary. Fortunately, the driver was able to abandon the vehicle moments before the flames erupted.

The firefighters intervened to put out the fire and secure the driver. The firefighters arrived from Vicenza and Arzignano with two fire engines, two tankers and 10 operators. They quickly managed to put out the flames, avoiding the involvement of the semi-trailer.

The fire also affected four noise panels on the highway. After the vehicle was turned off, highway traffic was channeled into a single lane. After the fire was put out, the road was immediately made safe and the motorway traffic was channelled into a single lane until the end of the operations. The causes of the fire are still to be determined with certainty.
