A flight requested mainly by Italian travel agents and tour operators to organize cruises in the Red Sea more easily: also for this reason EgyptairEgypt’s national airline, has announced a new direct route between Milan Malpensa e Luxor. From October 6, 2024every Sunday, the flight will depart from Milan at 17:50, arriving in Luxor at 23:05 local time.

Egyptair collaborates with the main Italian tour operators, including Quality Group-Mistral Tour, Boscolo Tours, Kel12 Tour Operator and Agenzia Viaggi Rallo,

The new route will be operated with a Boeing 737-800, offering 144 seats, including 24 in Business Class and 120 in Economy Class. Passengers will be able to count on two checked bags and one hand bag, an entertainment system with international content and a free on-board catering service. Various special menus will be available, including vegetarian, diabetic, halal, Hindu, kosher, low-fat, salt-free and for infants. In Economy Class, passengers will be able to bring two bags of 23 kg each and one hand bag of 8 kg. In Business Class, checked bags can reach 32 kg each, and passengers will have access to the VIP Lounge “Montale” at Terminal 1 of Milan Malpensa.

A flight that will also be useful for business travel, which currently represents only 15% of Egyptair’s sales. To increase this share, Egyptair has launched ERS, Egyptair Retailing System, a platform based on NDC that allows travel agents to quickly sell all the ancillary products associated with the flight.

A constant growth in tourist flows

For over 60 years, Egyptair has facilitated connections between Italy and Egypt, supporting a constantly growing tourism. In 2023, Egypt welcomed 14.9 million visitors, with a 27% increase compared to 2022, surpassing the historical record of 13.1 million arrivals recorded in 2019. Among these, Italian tourists recorded a 250% growth, reaching 850,000 arrivals.

Egyptair is planning further expansion in Italy and is working to extend its flights to two more airports in northern Italy, in addition to the current flights from Rome and Milan.

Andrea Tucci, Vice President Aviation Business Development of SEA Aeroporti di Milano, expressed great satisfaction for the opening of the new route: “The strategic partnership between Egyptair and Malpensa is enriched with a new chapter, contributing to further develop connectivity and cultural exchanges between Milan and Egypt.”

Egyptair, with over 80 destinations in 54 countries and a fleet of over 65 aircraft, has consolidated its presence in Italy for more than 60 years. In 2023, the company transported more than 265,000 passengers between Italy and Egypt, with 24 weekly flights between Rome Fiumicino, Milan Malpensa and Cairo. The new Milan Malpensa-Luxor route represents a further step in strengthening cultural and tourist ties between the two countries, making the wonders of Egypt even more accessible to Italians.
