It took place Monday 1st July, in Piazza Garibaldithe first session of the City Council following the results of the Administrative Elections of 8 and 9 June. A session introduced by the city band The Charity that performed the Mameli Anthem and the Ode to Joy and then gave the floor to Filippo Simeone who, as senior Councilor, directed the work of the City Council.
After the swearing-in ceremony of Mayor Matteo Mesini, the election of the President of the City Council took place by secret ballot: with 16 votes, he was elected Philip Simeonindicated by the council majority.
Instead, the following were elected to the position of Vice-Presidents, again by secret ballot: Matthew Dragonetti e Christian Misia. Once the elections of the City Council bodies were concluded, Mayor Matteo Mesini announced the members of the City Council with their relative delegations, which we also recall below.
Serena Lenzotti: Deputy Mayor, Councilor for Welfare and Sport; whose responsibilities are Social Policies, Inclusivity and Special Needs, Health and Well-being Policies, Promotion of Sports Activities and Sports Facilities, Policies for Adolescents and Young People.
Maria Savigni: Councilor for Education and Housing; whose responsibilities are: Education, Education and childhood plan, Family support policies, Housing policies and right to housing.
Federico Ferrari: Councilor for Culture; whose responsibilities are Cultural Policies and Libraries, Tourism, Commerce and Historic Center, Communication and Major Events, Legality, Digital Transition and AI.
David Zilioli: Councillor for Urban Regeneration; whose responsibilities are: Planning and development of the territory, Mobility and transport, Infrastructure planning, Europe and International relations.
Mara Pennacchia: Councilor for Public Works and Participation; whose responsibilities are: Public Works Plan and PNRR, Maintenance and Urban Furnishings, Civic Participation and Neighborhoods, Equal Opportunities.
Chiara Tonelli: Councilor for Environmental Sustainability; whose responsibilities are: Environmental policies, Waste cycle, Urban parks, ecological and energy transition, animal welfare and protection.
The Municipal Electoral Commission was then appointed: effective members were elected Pier Luigi Roli e Matthew Bettuzzi of the Democratic Party, Alexander Lucenti of Brothers of Italy; substitute members were elected Martina Desia of Sassuolo Looks Forward, Claudio Casolari of Sassuolo City Lab, and Stefania Giavelli of Brothers of Italy.
Point 6 of the City Council was scheduled to nominate two members to the Commission responsible for the formation of the Registers of Popular Judges of the Court of Assizes of Appeal: they were elected Joseph Bove of the Democratic Party and Giuseppe Vandelli of the League.
Subsequently, the representatives of the Municipal Council were elected as members of the Council of the Union of Municipalities of the Ceramic District: Rossano Dallari, Paola Maffei, Joseph Bove of the Democratic Party, Gabriele Bedini by Sassuolo City Lab and Martina Desiante of Sassuolo Guarda Avanti; for the opposition, however, Joseph Vandel of the League, Stefania Giavelli of Brothers of Italy and Davide Capezzera by Forza Italia Sassuolo in the Center.
The City Council then concluded with the illustration, by Mayor Matteo Mesini, of the Programmatic Guidelines 2024-2029 and the subsequent discussion; concluded with the vote that saw the approval by the majority and the abstention of the opposition.
