L’AQUILA. The 6th Bike Marathon Gran Sasso, a cycling Gran Fondo for amateurs that started in Fonte Cerreto, at the foot of the Gran Sasso, goes to Ettore Carlini from Fossacesia, Abruzzo. Over 700 participants in the event organized by the homonymous Bike Marathon Gran Sasso d’Italia of Martinsicuro, and characterized by a route full of difficulties, including the “Salita Pantani”, towards Campo Imperatore (from 1,680 to 2,130 m) and the “Cima Coppi”, characterized by a 452 m climb and 10 m descent. The athlete from Frentano, registered with the Hair Gallery Cycling Team, won the Extreme race, covering the 135 km of the course in 4h 6’16” and preceding his teammate Ivan Martinelli and Alessandro Frangioni from Teramo in the sprint. Among the women, the best was Morgana Grandonico (38th overall), ahead of Serena Quagliata (71st) and Veronica Coluccia (130th), while the winner of the Medio Fondo (110 km) was the biker from Abruzzo (from Garrufo) Paolo Ciavatta, who also beat Mattia Mazzieri from the Marche in the sprint.
