The Modena Fire Brigade were the protagonists of two rescue operations for animals in difficulty this afternoon, demonstrating once again their commitment and ability in rescuing not only people, but also animals.

First Intervention: Rescue of a Dog in the Secchia River

The first intervention took place around 12:30, when a fisherman spotted a small dog in the bed of the Secchia river, in Ponte Alto. Immediately alerted, the Fire Department intervened with a dinghy and three operators in river gear. The dog, who seemed lost and scared, was safely recovered and handed over to the municipal kennel worker. A check revealed the presence of a microchip, thanks to which it will be possible to return the animal to its owners.

Second Intervention: Saving an Owl from a Chimney

The second intervention took place around 4pm, when the fire brigade team from the Vignola detachment was called to Villabianca to rescue an owl trapped inside a chimney of a house. Using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and a fishing net provided by the applicant, staff managed to recover the animal without causing it any harm. The owl has been temporarily placed in a cat kennel and will be released at dusk, once safe.

These interventions underline the importance of the work of the Fire Brigade, who not only help people in dangerous situations, but also dedicate themselves to saving animals in difficulty, showing sensitivity and competence in every situation.
