What a feat. Once again the field factor fails, Pollino Basket conquers the PalaMangione in Gioia Tauro and gives itself a historic C series at the end of a hard-fought game 3. Personality and experience are the winning weapons of coach Isidoro Silella’s quintet which started very strongly in the first quarter (up to +10). The usual Ciccio Russo, curse and delight of this final series, rekindles his team and leads them to -4 at the interval (26-30). In the second half the home quintet finds energy and baskets and inflicts a dangerous deficit for Pollino with a score of 39-33. But captain Filpo brings the score below him again (39-37). Gioiese extends again to 47-41 but from this moment the game begins Simone D’Agostino show. Pollino’s number 3 warms his hand and burns the retina from long range followed by baby Perrone (47-47) at the siren of the third quarter. In the last period of the game the Castrovillarese quintet has an edge, Gioiese loses pieces along the way due to reaching the limits of fouls and the sniper D’Agostino keeps the opponents at bay from distance by hitting three times from the arc. Castrovillari’s quintet deservedly wins (58-68), an immense joy for the president Luigi Filpo and for the veteran Andrea Perrone who gives himself yet another success in his historic career.
