A dark brown head adorned with olive branches full of fruit. This is the image printed on the labels of a special series of bottles of extra virgin olive oil produced by Berretta oil mills of Mirabella Imbaccari, in the province of Catania. «It’s a way to get more than just one product onto the table excellent product of the territory, but also raising awareness towards environmental sustainability», they say from Kalat Ambiente Srr who, for this very reason, organized a graphic competition for lower and upper secondary school students within the project entitled Leave a mark. The student won Vittoria Albachiara of the Piero Carrera institute in Militello in Val di Catania.

Which, in practice, translates into a less pollution due to the movement of goods.



At the end of the project Leave a markthe male and female students of the VA class of Carrera art high school of Militello in Val di Catania (the one to which the winner of the competition) went to visit the company Berretta oil mills. «So the boys and girls were able to experience this reality first-hand – they say Kalat Environment – and they listened a story from which to take inspiration for theirs too future». The owner of the company told it Max Carapezza who illustrated the cutting-edge project with which they produce extra virgin olive oil: dalla selection of olives to the waste recovery processing – with which they are then produced biodegradable pots for agriculture – up to the initiative Adopt an olive tree which to date can already count over 800 plant entrusters. «A day – they conclude – which truly left its mark environmental sustainability and of biodiversity in male and female students.”
