“Time continues to pass, Mario never stops connecting the past to the present. The workers are late in arriving, perhaps he still has some time to cling to that doubt that crosses him every morning, in front of the mirror. What do we need to do to really change things?”.

Carlo Albé, actor and playwright attentive to the themes of work, explains in his monologue “Born without a Shirt – Giuseppe Di Vittorio yesterday, today and tomorrow”, the life of those who work in unions. Between past and present, the protagonist dialogues with Giuseppe Di Vittorio, Italian trade unionist, politician and anti-fascist, founder and general secretary of the CGIL until his death in 1957.

The theatrical piece, sponsored by the Di Vittorio Foundation, will stop in Basilicata thanks to the CGIL of Potenza tomorrow Thursday 13 June at 5.30 pm at the Provincial Museum of Potenza. Giovanni Ferrarese, researcher at Ires Cgil Basilicata, will introduce the show.

A monologue with guitar accompaniment on the music of Massimiliano Codeluppi to represent in an original way the themes, doubts and concerns that cross the world of work. The protagonist Mario, a modern-day trade unionist, questions the world of work in current affairs with a particular look at the South, also addressing that “southern question” which has never been resolved: the “born without shirts”, yesterday laborers and workers, not Are the hundreds of thousands of workers poor today, experiencing precariousness and exploitation?

The show will be dedicated to Pasquale Paolino, general secretary of Spi Cgil Potenza who recently passed away, protagonist of numerous trade union struggles in these long years of leadership in the Lucanian CGIL as secretary of FP CGIL and Filcams CGIL before leading the union of pensioners and pensioners.
