The 28-year-old who allegedly fired the gunshot that accidentally killed Caterina Ciurleo was released but is still under investigation. The arrest, therefore, was not validated and the man initially accused of the murder of the 81-year-old who was shot by mistake in via Primo Mazzolari, in the Villaggio Prenestino area, on the outskirts of Rome, was not arrested. The Police Headquarters announced that “during the night, investigative evidence emerged which led to postponing the adoption of immediate restrictive measures against the 28-year-old, who is still under investigation”.

Shooting in Rome, stray bullet kills elderly woman: 28-year-old arrested released

The boy had been arrested in the last few hours on suspicion of murdering the 81-year-old after shooting in Via della Riserva Nuova, in Rome. The investigators had reached him by examining the video surveillance images and therefore also the license plates of the vehicles. The shots apparently came from a car.

“She survived, but she doesn’t speak”

The Flying Squad’s investigations continue, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, aimed at the exact reconstruction of the event and the identification of all those responsible.

The 28-year-old has a history of drug dealing and property crimes. He has been, in the last 24 hours, the main suspect for the shooting which accidentally involved and killed the 81-year-old who was sitting in a Smart car with a friend.

One of the five bullets “pierced” the trunk of the car sticking into the lung of the victim who later died in Tor Vergata hospital.
