CORTINA – The work of the cableways does not stop: in Cortina the long winter season ended on 1 May, more than five months in a row, and we are already looking towards the start of summer. From skis we move on to bicycles, or excursions and climbs, but the means of transport is always the same: a cable car, a chair lift, with the Dolomiti Supersummer tool, a card to access the different facilities. In Ampezzo the cable car that goes up from the Falzarego pass to Mount Lagazuoi opens first: the Cortina Skiworld consortium website indicates the start for Wednesday 5 June; shortly afterwards, on Saturday 8 June, you will be able to go up to the Cinque Torri and on the same day the whole area of Socrepes, Tofana and Ra Vales will open. In summer you will also climb Mount Faloria, the extraordinary terrace open onto the valley, at over 2,000 metres, while Mount Cristallo is mainly a destination for those who intend to follow the equipped paths, the via ferratas.

THE CALENDAR
The closures will be scheduled between September and October. This year the Cortina Skyline cable car also opens, the latest system built in the valley, from Son dei Prade to Bain de Dones, connecting the Pocol and Tofana area with the Cinque Torri and the Falzarego pass. This facility will be in operation from June 29th to September 8th. For over two months, a large carousel will also be guaranteed for bicycles, with a growing number of routes for the descent of vehicles, transported at altitude by the lifts, for the gravity discipline, which is increasingly widespread, especially among the younger ones. Even in the recent spring general assembly, the Regole d’Ampezzo authorized other routes, which usually run alongside the winter ski slopes.

THE THEME
Towards the Cinque Torri and Lagazuoi, what attracts hikers are the memory routes, the paths that pass between trenches, tunnels and barracks from the First World War, preserved over time and then recovered in recent decades, with the commitment of private entrepreneurs, administrations public, voluntary associations.
It is possible to go beyond Cortina to purchase passes that allow access to the lifts in other valleys, in the large Dolomiti Superski area. As for prices, the adult daily ticket costs 62 euros; 43 euros for junior concessions. Subscriptions are available for three days, at a cost of 135 euros, or for five days at 175 euros. For the unstoppable traveler there is a seasonal pass for 400 euros, reduced to 280 for juniors, 200 for children. Intermodality is also envisaged, in combined transport between rubber plants, with the use of buses and couriers. A specific app allows you to access openings, costs and additional services.

THE INVITATION
«People need time for themselves, to recharge the batteries of their body and spirit, freeing themselves from the stress of everyday life for a while. The mountains in general, and the Dolomites specifically, have all the requirements to guarantee unforgettable moments, immersed in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. And we at Dolomiti Supersummer do our best to support this most beautiful period of the year”, says Andy Varallo, president of Dolomiti Superski, in the official launch of the 2024 summer season. In the province of Belluno, the Civetta ski areas also open, from June 15th to September 15th; of Arabba and Marmolada, from 15 June to 22 September. Also in this case the users are varied: the young mountain bike enthusiast joins the hiker who travels along the paths immersed in nature and history, among the testimonies of the Great War, or the mountaineer, who uses the facilities to get closer to the rock walls.
