The Nerea ferry continues to remain under seizure, on board which, last Sunday, while it was attempting to dock at the Santa Marina Salina pier, an accident occurred at work involving a young seafarer: the man fortunately did not report serious injuries so much so that it was declared healable in thirty days, but in the meantime – as per practice – the ship was first “stopped” in Lipari by the Coast Guard for investigations and various checks and then subjected to seizure by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office Barcelona

The Nerea ferry continues to remain under seizure, on board which, last Sunday, while it was attempting to dock at the Santa Marina Salina pier, an accident occurred at work involving a young seafarer: the man fortunately did not report serious injuries so much so that it was declared healable in thirty days, but in the meantime – as per practice – the ship was first “stopped” in Lipari by the Coast Guard for investigations and various checks and then subjected to seizure by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office Barcelona.

The “Caronte e Tourist Isole Minori”, aware of the inconvenience that may arise due to the absence of the ferry, both for tourists and for the residents themselves, has made a request for release from seizure: more will be known soon but in the meantime the modern ferry remains stationary in the main islands of the archipelago. And indeed, already after four days, connection problems were reported in the Aeolian Islands, so much so that the mayors of Lipari, Santa Marina Salina, Leni and Malfa decided to send a letter to the president of the Region and the councilor for infrastructure and mobility to ask for their immediate intervention.

“Another seizure of ships in the Aeolian Sector which brings to its knees the vital interests of the inhabitants of the Archipelago and disturbs the normal conduct of the administrative life of the Municipalities due to the continuous complaints and reports of damage that the lack of suitable connections causes to the carrying out of activities economic and social aspects of the population – we read in the document signed by Domenico Arabia (Santa Marina Salina), Riccardo Gullo (Lipari), Giacomo Montecristo (Leni) and Clara Rametta (Malfa) and also sent to the prefect of Messina”.
