The Mayors of Matera and Santeramo in Colle urge the Province of Matera and the Metropolitan City of Bari
The mayors of Matera, Domenico Bennardi, and of Santeramo in Colle, Vincenzo Casone, issued a joint statement requesting the intervention of the Province of Matera and the Metropolitan City of Bari to address the deterioration of the provincial roads SP 271 and SP 236. These arteries, essential for the connection between the two cities, are in precarious conditions.
Mayors expressed concern about the condition of the roads, with large and deep potholes, deterioration of the asphalt and a closed road diversion near Matera. The current situation represents a serious risk to the safety of citizens, particularly for commuter workers who travel between the two cities on a daily basis.
Bennardi and Casone requested a meeting with the President of the Province of Matera, Piero Marrese, and the mayor of the Metropolitan City of Bari, Antonio De Caro, to discuss the creation of a technical table aimed at accelerating the restoration works.
The poor road network not only threatens safety, but also negatively affects tourism and the economy of the Matera and Bari Murgia areas. The mayors underlined the importance of timely intervention to prevent further negative repercussions.
In light of these critical issues, the mayors of Matera and Santeramo in Colle insist on the need for urgent intervention, stating that the issue cannot be postponed any further.
