Germany-Denmark Chronicle (HIGHLIGHTS)
The Germans scored immediately in the 4th minute with Schlotterbeck, but the goal was disallowed due to an irregular block by Kimmich in the center of the area. Shortly afterwards Schmeichel saves first with a dive on Kimmich and then on a header from Schlotterbeck. Denmark responds with a chance for Eriksen, thwarted by Rudiger’s intervention, and a shot from Maehle that ends up high. In the 36th minute, the match was suspended due to bad weather: a strong storm with wind and hail hit the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. After about 20 minutes the players returned to the pitch and after a short warm-up the match started again. Havertz tries in the area again finding a great response from Schmeichel, then a chance for Hojlund. In the second half Andersen scored Denmark’s lead goal, but the goal was disallowed by VAR for an offside in the development of the action. In the 51st minute, a penalty for Germany due to a handball from Andersen: Havertz shoots and makes no mistake. A few minutes later the Arsenal striker devours the second goal and Sanè comes close to the post (but he was offside). Denmark still dangerous with Hojlund, but the Germans double their lead in the 68th minute with Musiala. The Danes tried hard to score a goal to try to come back, exposing themselves to the home team’s counterattacks, but both goalkeeper Schmeichel and poor precision left the result unchanged at 2-0.
