AGI – In Giacomo Bozzoli still no trace despite the intense searches conducted last night by the police forces. At 8pm yesterday evening the Brescia Carabinieri knocked on the door of his house on Lake Garda, where he lives, to carry out the sentence of the Supreme Court of Cassation forlife imprisonment for the murder and destruction of the body of his uncle Mario in 2015. But Bozzoli, who spent these nine years as a free man awaiting the final sentence of a circumstantial trial, was not there. In any case, a judicial source explains to AGI, the order for the execution of his sentence “is included in all Italian and European databases”.
At the moment the 39 year old former entrepreneur he’s not technically a fugitive and therefore it is not possible to search for him through wiretaps and other more penetrating investigation methods. If he does not turn himself in or is not found in the next few hours, the ‘declaration of abscondence’ provided for by the criminal procedure code will be triggered. A provision that must be motivated and that must contain “the elements that demonstrate the effective knowledge of the measure and the will to evade it”.
Bozzoli has always declared himself innocent. “There has never been any argument with my uncle,” he told the judges of the Assize Court. In these years he has never given signs of wanting to flee while waiting for the verdict. His uncle, Mario Bozzoli, 52, disappeared on October 8, 2015 from the foundry he ran with his brother and nephews in Val Trompia. According to the sentence, Bozzoli burned the corpse in foundriesa. One of his lawyers, Professor Franco Coppi, called the charges against Giacomo “full of ambiguity.”
