United Cup, France with Rinderknech and Boisson: all about Italy’s rivals

One of the revelations of the just concluded ATP season, Arthur Rinderknech, will lead France in the United Cup. Les Bleus will be on stage in Perth, in Group C, with Italy and Switzerland. France will play on January 3rd against the Swiss and on the 6th against the Azzurri, again at 3 in the morning, Italian time. The United Cup will be broadcast live and free-to-air, free and for everyone, on SuperTennis. All matches of the event will also be available on SuperTennis Plus and SuperTenniX.

Instead, Lois Boisson, who in 2025 reached the best ranking at position number 36, gave up at the last minute and surprised everyone with the semi-final at Roland Garros, where she surprisingly defeated world number 3 Jessica Pegula and number 6 Mirra Andreeva. Having entered the draw only thanks to a wild card, she became the lowest-ranked player to reach the quarter-finals and semi-finals in the last 40 years in Paris. Her path was interrupted only against future champion Coco Gauff.

She also won her first singles title in Hamburg in July, and looked set for a surprising second half of the season. But his 2025 ended in Beijing, in September, due to a left quadriceps injury. “I had a small setback [al ginocchio sinistro] during the preparation – she wrote on Instagram – As a result, I will not be ready in time to participate in the United Cup in Perth. It was a very difficult decision to make, because I was looking forward to representing France for the first time in a team competition. I’m doing everything I can to be ready in time for the Australian Open.”

Leolia Jeanjean, WTA number 103, will therefore play as female number 1. In 2025, the thirty-year-old from Montpellier reached her first quarter-final on the major circuit in Bogota (defeat against Pareja), debuted in the main draw of a WTA 1000 in Montreal and won her first match in this tournament category in Cincinnati (over Starodubtseva in the first round). He also achieved his best career ranking, no. 91, on August 18.
