In the early 1980s, dominated by the svelte Japanese 500 cc single cylinders, the Honda XLV 750 was one of the first models labeled as “maxi enduro”. It was a muscular 750 cc V-twin, well finished and aesthetically striking, but with “limited” off-road capabilities, due both to its weight and to the final shaft drive. It was initially marketed in HRC colors, blue-white-red, with red fork and wheel hubs.
Today, taking inspiration from this model, the designer Oberdan Bezzi imagines a reinterpretation of that bike in a modern key: the XLT 750 R Concept. A motorcycle which, according to the designer, “combines the qualities of the original model, but with a much more marked aptitude for tackling off-road, in order to create a less obvious and “cooler” alternative to the Transalp”.
And the XLT 750 R Concept would borrow the engine from Transalp: a 755 cc parallel twin capable of delivering a maximum power of 92 HP and with a torque peak of 75 Nm. On a stylistic level, the XLT 750 R adopts the stylistic features of its 80s ancestor, integrated by “modern technical choices with excellent quality components, low weight given the type and consequently top-level performance and fun”.
As mentioned, the XLT 750 R is not an official Honda project, but the vision of designer Oberdan Bezzi. What do you think?
