As we know, Megan Fox is the vampire Nitara in Mortal Kombat 1 while Jean-Claude Van Damme is present as an alternative skin for Johnny Cage. It seems however that the presence of celebrities within the new Mortal Kombat it shouldn’t have been limited to just these two actors.
In his initial vision, the director Ed Boon he would have wanted every single character featured in Mortal Kombat 1 was played by a prominent VIP, as revealed during an interview with Rolling Stone. “One of the ideas that amused me the most for Mortal Kombat 1, and which we then didn’t do, is the following: what if every character in the game was played by an actor? For example Kenshi played by Keanu Reeves, practically an impossible dream“, says Boon, who adds: “We could have made a game with each character based on a famous, recognizable actor, and Johnny Cage absolutely would have been played by Jean-Claude Van Damme“.
However, Boon’s dream never materialized mainly logistical issues: “Many actors don’t understand how sophisticated video games have become. When you agree to participate, it’s not like you just participate for a single day, you enter the recording room for a maximum of an hour and then you’re done“, explained the director.
