If the previews on The Elder Scrolls 6 between the platforms launch window were not enough, from the new batch of documents declassified by the lawsuit between the FTC and Microsoft, an email from Activision appears which provides clarifications on the specifications and power of Nintendo Switch 2.
The new previews on the next iteration of Nintendo consoles emerge from the documentation of the lawsuit between the FTC and Microsoft in the passage in which the person responsible for platform strategy and relations with Activision’s partners, Chris Schnakenberginforms the executives of the US publisher about the meetings held in December 2022 with Nintendo, during which the hardware specs of Switch 2 features.
Despite the numerous passages and omissions on ‘sensitive data’ cited in the email exchange between Schnakenberg and Activision colleagues, one can read the passage in which the executive of the Stars and Stripes production company explains that “given the closer alignment of ‘Switch NG’ (or Switch Next Generation, ed.) at performance of eighth generation platforms and our video games developed on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it is reasonable to assume that we will be able to create something interesting for Switch NG too. It would therefore be useful to ensure early access to prototypes and development devkits to promptly evaluate the real potential of Switch NG”.
The new rumors emerging from the declassified document go in the same direction indicated by Kotick’s advances on the power of Nintendo Switch similar to PS4 and Xbox One: in the statements made by the CEO of Activision Blizzard testifying before the judges called to resolve the lawsuit between the FTC and Microsoft, Kotick thought it appropriate to underline that Switch 2 would boast computational power comparable to that of PS4 and Xbox One.
