Just a few days ago, it emerged online that Samsung Galaxy Ring will be launched at the beginning of 2024, together with the new smartphones of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series – from which it could even steal the show during the first Unpacked next year. Today, however, it seems the same Samsung has confirmed the Galaxy Ring.
Colleagues at 9to5Google, in fact, explain that a device called “Galaxy Ring” has been discovered in the APK file of the Galaxy Wearable app. Specifically, the device was only included with the latest software update, which suggests that it is not a placeholder or an error, but it is an addition specially implemented by Samsung.
In fact, we have known for some time that Samsung is working on a smart ring, even if it is not clear when the Galaxy Ring will be sold on the market. According to 9to5Google and GizmoChina, however, the appearance of the device in the Galaxy Wearable app indicates that its international launch is not too far away: a release window, for example, could be that of the Galaxy Unpacked in January, during which Also Samsung’s Galaxy S24 revealed; another, however, could be that of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE launch event, which should be held between the end of September and the beginning of October.
Furthermore, the analysis of the APK files of the new Galaxy Wearable app explains that the Galaxy Ring connects via Bluetooth to your smartphone. After connecting, a appears on the app popup entitled “connect your ring”, which confirms that the device is indeed a smart ring and that all the biometric data it records from the user’s finger is stored directly on the smartphone.
For now, unfortunately, we don’t know much about the product. According to some experts, the Galaxy Ring will have ECG and PPG sensors for monitoring the individual’s heart rate, blood oxygenation and body temperature. Furthermore, it should also connect with the dedicated products smart home from Samsung, although this feature still remains a mystery for the moment.
