After months of rumors and leaks, now the confirmation that all fans were waiting for has arrived: Resident Evil 9 will do and has already entered the development phase.

The news came as a surprise during the Capcom Next Summer 2024the publisher’s new themed event that took place last night: although no particularly important news was expected, there was space to talk about the future of the survival horror series.

As reported by IGN USthe announcement came directly from Koshi Nakanishiwhich will be the director of the ninth chapter of the saga.

Nakanishi had already been the director of Resident Evil 7 (you can find it on Amazon) and of Revelationsbut had also contributed as Creative Director on The Mercenaries 3D and as a designer for RE 5.

The director had a few but important words to confirm the development of the new chapter of the saga:

«It was really hard for me to figure out what to do next. [Resident Evil 7]. But I found out and, to be honest, It seems considerable to me.

I can’t share any details yet, but I hope you’re excited for the day I can.”

At the moment we do not know if the title in question will simply be called “Resident Evil 9” nor who its protagonists will be, and we don’t even know what the actual launch window will be.

However, Capcom has in fact confirmed the existence and the official director has been revealed: a clue that the work can proceed in the best possible way.

We will keep you updated promptly on our pages as soon as we know more about the new chapter of the saga.

We will see who the protagonists of Resident Evil 9 will be: a leaker seems convinced that we could see the return of Leon and Jill.

In the meantime, if you want to while away the time with some nostalgia, we would like to point out that the classic trilogy of Resident Evil is coming back to PC.
