The adventure of the Bersaglieri Sanniti touch on French soil ended with a 12th place as they participated in the international Alpes N’touch tournament in the city of Grenoble on Saturday 16 September.

It was the first European experience for the Samnite touchers who faced the best French touch clubs, as well as an Anglo-New Zealand barbarians who won the tournament by beating the French champions Touch Smu de St. Martine in the final d’Uriage. Also present at the tournament were the Italian champions Brianza ToucherZ who achieved an excellent 3rd place.

“It was a wonderful experience which allowed us to compete with very competitive teams from which we could learn to improve ourselves – stated Mr. Fabio Santucci -. Suffice it to say that France fielded 11 teams at the recent European Championships in July against the 3 Italian teams. The matches played have always seen us equal to our opponents with very exciting matches and this represents an element of satisfaction for our team. We return home with the awareness of having performed well with the hope of being able to improve ourselves in view of the next commitments”.

“The French tournament is another important step in the history of our association – stated Massimo Santucci, president of the Bersaglieri. What has been done in recent years is truly unthinkable for a provincial reality like ours. So much dedication and sacrifices were made to bring the name of San Giorgio del Sannio and Sannio to fields throughout Italy. A collective commitment that we hope can be constantly nourished.”

The activity of the Bersaglieri Sanniti touch continues in view of the commitments of the 2023/24 Italian championship and the World Cup which will be played in England in July 2024.
