Lecco, 19 September 2023 – Volleyball Picco Lecco presented on Monday morning in the splendid location of Villa Manzoni in the presence of stakeholders, local companies and players.
Among the new features is the combination of sport and culture strongly achieved thanks to the “I Promessi Sposi” project. Libero is a new state of mind”: this is the title of the idea that sees the virtual handshake between the sports association and the Manzoniano Museum of Lecco come to fruition on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the death of Alessandro Manzoni. Ten different versions of the libero shirt will accompany the team on its journey during the championship, telling the story of the protagonists of the Lecco novel.
“I see some reconfirmations and many new faces in the squad, a sign of an updating work which confirms that the confirmation in Serie A2 was deserved – commented Mauro Gattinoni, mayor of Lecco -. As mayor I am proud of the sporting results that all the clubs are achieving: first you with the A2 Series, then Calcio Lecco with the B Series, all spearheads of a sports system that works as demonstrated by the sportsmanship index of “Il Sole 24 Ore”. Among the indicators to be improved is that linked to the low level of plant equipment and for this reason we are thinking about the resources to be put in a “Bione” perspective. We are here and we also thank you for combining the sport and culture challenge, with the characters of “The Betrothed” who will be taken around Italy. Such high-level projects require resources, anyone who combines their name with a sports brand certainly isn’t wrong: this applies to football as well as volleyball, in recent years a lot is being invested and in the coming years there could be very important image returns“.
The theme of the culture-sport combination was also taken up by Simona Piazza, deputy mayor and councilor for culture. “It is no coincidence that the presentation takes place here, given that a few years ago a calendar was created right inside these rooms. For us it was important to make Lecco culture and traditions known through the team: I really believe in this combination, the culture of sport starts from a healthy and enriching process”.
Also present among the institutions was the regional councilor Giacomo Zamperini: “We wanted to create an undersecretariat for sport also to support the facilities. We did it for the “Rigamonti-Ceppi” field, for the “Bione” and we will do it even more. I see happy eyes, of people who have reached a goal and you are the arrival point, the example of young people to whom that passion must be transferred“.
Having entered the highlight of the event, the red and white president Dario Righetti highlighted the cornerstones of the company. “We are optimistic, even though it becomes more difficult every year due to bureaucracy and additional costs also linked to the introduction of sports work. Every day we read in the newspapers about serious problems at a social level: we carry forward the mantra “family, school and volleyball”, through the delivery of scholarships and green initiatives. The majority of the girls who play in Serie A2 are university students, this shows that you can play while continuing your studies: the results on the pitch can be a stimulus.”.
Orocash will continue its success alongside the team. “We believe in the values transmitted by Picco Lecco, linking ourselves to a brand is also a winning mix for our image and for the initiatives carried out by the team”explained the company’s marketing manager Francesca Scaccabarozzi.
Coach Gianfranco Milano illustrated the technical project in broad terms: “This year we have many new faces, at the end of last season we chose to rejuvenate the group after a wonderful championship. We have replaced many girls, by necessity or by choice: we have a young group with veterans, this is to create the usual mix. We found the right profiles for us from a technical and moral point of view: we made good choices, the group is qualified and entrusted to a larger technical group. We will be able to aspire to good results and to remain in Serie A2.” New figures also for the youth sector, represented by Federico Belloni and Lorenzo Azzoni.
“From this collaboration I learned that to create a tourist offer you need to work as a team, because the museum is the mirror of a community that recognizes itself” Rossetto specified –everything can be culture, Picco Lecco will be an ambassador of our cultural proposal. This project, in 34 years of profession, had never been submitted to me: this means being ambassadors with a great cultural project”.
Two of Picco’s new additions, Gaia Badalamenti and Rachele Mainetti, were guests of Lecco Fm:
