The ninth edition of the event was celebrated on Sunday in Colorno “The Smile That You Never Forget”, an event aimed at remembering Philip “Pippo” Cantonia promising young rugby player who died prematurely in 2014. A day of celebration, which was started by a very interesting speech by the Sports Law Lawyer Barbara Foroniwhich addressed the key points of the new one with great precision Sports Reform.
In the splendid setting of MUPAC Museum of Colorno, Doctor Foroni then left the scene to the Association Oval supporta non-profit organization affiliated with Rugby Colorno, which as usual delivered the two Scholarships “Filippo Cantoni“. It was the very young one Greta Artonistudent of Bertolucci High School of Parma, to win the scholarship “Filippo Cantoni 10 cum laude“, a recognition open to all high school graduates in the area and which rewarded his enormous commitment to his studies, his impeccable conduct and his countless hours of volunteer work serving the community. Awarded instead for the scholarship “Filippo Cantoni“, open to all sports clubs on the peninsula and sponsored by the Italian Rugby Federation, the pillar of Rugby Forli Cristian Tahiri.
Special mention also for the Red Fury Sara Manniniprotagonist of an extraordinary season both from an academic and sporting point of view, with the experience at Wellington College as captain of the U18 national team to act as the icing on the cake.
Among the guests also present was the President of the Emilia Romagna Regional Committee Giacomo Berdondiniwhich rewarded the newly promoted players Puntopack Barbari del Po and the PuntoPack Colorno U19 Italian Champion: “I am proud to represent the only region, apart from Veneto, which has won national trophies in recent years. I know the dynamics of a club well and I know that behind the victory on the pitch there is enormous work by the entire corporate structure, so consider it a victory for all of you and good luck for next season.”
The second part of the day took place on the synthetic surface of Rugby Colorno, where the magnificent “Red Buffaloes“, Colornese integrated rugby team. Guests of the boys trained by Alice MerusiThe “Implacable” of theCapitoline Rugby Unionfor a sort of demonstration match of what promises to be the great event of the 2023/24 season: the National Tournament “All Stars” of Integrated Rugby.
“It was a magnificent day, which allowed us to address very different topics and always in full respect of those values that we carry forward, above all the concept of inclusion”, commented an enthusiastic Stefano Cantoni, President of Sostegno Ovale Onlus. “We managed to present new projects, we rewarded our teams and awarded scholarships, as well as obviously saying goodbye to many old friends. Next year we will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Festa del Sorriso and I would like to gather together all the winners of the scholarships, from when we started until today. I would like to know how their sporting and school careers are progressing.”
