Salernitana-Turin 0-3: Buongiorno and Radonjic conquer Arechi

A pearl to beat Genoa before the break; two close calls to defeat Salernitana when the championship resumes. It’s time for Nemanja Radonjic, aka Maradonjic: for a few weeks now, the Serbian playmaker has been playing the role of Torino’s striker, so much so that he has already scored four goals since the start of the season, including friendlies. A remarkable haul in a team that, from the waist up, is scoring slowly. “Nemanja was good and cynical, he scored two goals but he can do even better: let’s hope he continues like this” crosses his fingers Ivan Juric who knows how the performance of his “artist” is constantly on a roller coaster. Certainly, so far, Radonjic’s goals have managed to mask the shortcomings of a Toro attack that just can’t break the deadlock.

«The match report»

Sanabria and Pellegri have been dry since the start of the new season; and to close the gap at the end of the transfer window Duvan Zapata arrived from Atalanta. Result: the Colombian creates play, provides assists, distributes balls but has not yet found, in the first 151 minutes of the match, the right opening to score. Not even against a Salernitana team who demonstrated that they have not yet taken the right path, not even in the first match of the season in which Torino scored three times. For their part, the Granata Campania were knocked out quickly by the one-two signed in the first half by Buongiorno (in the quarter of an hour) and Radonjic (in the 41st minute); and they were also unlucky, given that a moment before the break Cabral had the good ball to reopen the score but threw a stone against the post when Milinkovic was beaten.

And so Salernitana confirmed that they were experiencing a complicated moment in a championship that had started rather well, with the 2-2 draw away at the Olimpico against Roma. From that moment, however, the difficulties increased and were highlighted first by Lecce (0-2 away) and this time by Torino (0-3 at home). “Toro deserved the victory – Paulo Sousa then admitted with elegance – even if to tell the truth there was a penalty on Cabral”. What is certain is that, after the Cape Verdean striker’s outburst at the end of the first half, the Piedmontese’s path became downhill, to the point of putting a stone on it with the 3-0 goal from the usual Radonjic who in the final would also have had the opportunity to score the first hat-trick of his career, had it not been for his offside position. To calibrate the Toro there is now a double Roman test: on Sunday, the Granata will host the Giallorossi, fresh from the seven-time defeat against Empoli; then, three days later, the midweek trip to face Lazio.
