The season has yet to end, but as usual one of the hottest topics is the Tour of Italy of the following year (as well as the Tour de France on the other hand). Never before has there been a thirst for new news like this year, considering that we already know that RCS Sports for next season he also has the organization of the U23 Giro in his hands – renamed by the new organizers Giro Next Gen – he was born in Women’s Tourwhich needs an urgent relaunch in order to at least reduce the gap towards the newborn Tour de France Femmes.

In the meantime, we have a reference date to start the countdown: as revealed by Beppe Conti in the now traditional appointment with l’Indiscreto on the Rai Radiocorsa broadcast, the presentation of the next Giro d’Italia has been set for Friday October 13th and it will be held Trent on the occasion of Sports Festival (to be held from 12 to 15 October). The official announcement will probably arrive in a few days, on 14 September, the day on which the program of the Gazzetta dello Sport event should be published. For the moment there is a certain silence on the matter and it certainly cannot be ruled out that RCS Sport could pull a few rabbits out of the hat. Beppe Conti always tried to anticipate one of these, revealing that the organizers would be doing everything to have it Tadej Pogacar at the start of the Giro d’Italia, although the rumors do not exclude the possibility that he will appear at the start only to sharpen his legs for the Tour de France, as done by other champions in past years. What is known at the moment is that if Tadej decides to come, RCS Sport’s hope would be to announce his presence on 13 October, exactly as happened for Remco Evenepoel a year ago.

The good news, meanwhile, is to see that continuity has been found in presenting the race at the right time, probably again this year slightly ahead of the Tour de France route. The bad news, however, is that while we already know 5 stages of the Tour (the three of the Italian Grand Depart and the two of the unprecedented finale in Nice), we don’t even know the location of the Grand Departure of the Giro. What is almost certain is that next year – and not just next year – the spectacular should happen again final in the center of Romewhich was successful last year and is a candidate to regularly become the closing of the Corsa Rosa, probably the most suitable also in aesthetic and institutional terms.

From what little has transpired so far, the route should be vaguely similar to that of last year, with a turning point quite north and challenging stages on the Apennines from the first days: for example, there is talk of Tivo meadows, traditional arrival of the Tirreno-Adriatico in recent years, which would complete the picture of uphill arrivals in Abruzzo (after Roccaraso 2020, Campo Felice 2021, Blockhaus 2022 and Campo Imperatore 2023). The closing should be as per tradition in the Alps, with a long transfer to be made to reach Rome on the last day.
