The Madrid government also intervenes against the president of the Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, for the kiss stolen from the player Jenni Hemoroso after the victory of the women’s soccer World Cup. The Superior Council of Sport, a body chaired by the Undersecretary for Sport, Victor Francos, has sent a “reasoned request” to the Administrative Court of Sport for a possible violation of the law on Sport and the Royal Decree on Sport. The government communication speaks of possible “very serious” infractions that expose Rubiales to a precautionary suspension from his role. According to the CSD, the head of the Spanish Football Federation would have violated article 76.1 of the Sport law, which deals precisely with abuses of authority and well-known and public acts that violate sporting dignity or decorum.

And while the protest of players of the Spanish national team grows, who threaten not to respond to the call-ups without a step back from Rubiales, the Spanish Federation has issued a long statement in which it reiterates that the images of the award ceremony clearly show that Rubiales he would not have lied when he spoke of a “consensual kiss”. The Spanish Football Federation also accompanied the press release with a photo that would deny the player, who for her part denied having given her consent for that kiss. In the photo you can see Jenni Hermoso hugging and lifting Rubiales for a moment. According to the Federation, it would be proof that the president was in good faith when he decided to kiss the player.
