CConfirming what we had anticipated during our PostGP Aleix Espargaro has officially signed with Honda CRF come Test Rider 2025alongside Stefan Bradl in the development of the Honda RC213V.
Espargaro had announced the Retirement as an official MotoGP rider a few weeks ago and in the HRC press release just released it reads that “Honda Racing Corporation will strengthen its testing program with the addition of Aleix Espargaro as a test rider in 2025. With almost 250 starts in the premier class, the 34-year-old brings with him a wealth of experience on Grand Prix machinery and a pedigree of three wins and more than 1,300 MotoGP points”
Aleix is a rider who brings a lot of experience to the HRC box, in debt of results in a season where the Japanese manufacturers are struggling to emerge in MotoGP. From the 125 and 250 two-stroke, up to the Suzuki MotoGP and obviously Aprilia that Espargaro brought to the top step of the podium contributing decisively to its development during his eight years in the official team. Will Honda, together with Espargaro, be able to return to the podium in the short term? It is very likely that the presence of Aleix as a 2025 test rider will make its effects felt with the new MotoGP regulation that will arrive in 2027, with the new 850 cc still to be developed.
