CYCLING The Tour de France will pass Monday 1st July in our area and details are emerging of the Piacenza-Turin section, which will cross Asti, Langhe and Roero also passing through Alba.

The race website has published the timetable for the stage (230 kilometres, the longest of the 2024 Tour), which will start from Piacenza at 11.15 and arrive in the Piedmont capital between 16.57 and 17.30.

Below are some of the locations in our area that the stage touches, with the indicative times of passage of the cyclists:

  • Boglietto (14.53-15.14),
  • Castagnole of the lances (15-15.21),
  • Neive Borgonuovo (15.05-15.27),

  • Trestelle (15.17-15.39),
  • Alba (15.25-15.49),
  • Racca (15-34-15.59),
  • Piobesi (15.36-16),
  • Sommariva Perno (15.47-16.13),
  • Ceresole (16.01-16.28).

The passage of the advertising caravan is expected approximately an hour and a half before the race. The roads in the Alba area will be closed starting at 12, with slight differences in the various sections crossed

In Turin Girmay wins in sprint

In Turin, the Eritrean Girmay (already winner of a stage at the Giro d’Italia) won the sprint, ahead of the Colombian Gaviria and the Belgian De Lie. The yellow jersey passed from the Slovenian Pogaçar to the Ecuadorian Carapaz. Tomorrow, the Tour will leave Italy with the Pinerolo-Valloire stage.

Great speed for the riders who passed through the center of Alba. Fabien Grellier, French cyclist of TotalEnergies, passed first of the group, who took a little advantage in Altavilla and now leads the stage with about twenty seconds.

Preparations are in full swing, while roads in the towns are starting to be closed for the Tour de France. Matteo Sobrero’s fan club has spread out across several areas, including Barbaresco where the fourth category Gpm is scheduled.

Preparation for the cycling event is underway

The big day of the Tour de France in the Langhe and Roero has arrived, in all the towns and cities preparations are underway for the route and for the support of the riders, with the most fervent cheering for Matteo Sobrero, cyclist from Montelupo (Red Bull). Among the many choreographies, the installations of Canelli and Nizza, designed for aerial shots, stand out. In the meantime in Alba they are putting up the last signs waiting for the passage.

During the Tour, all the services of the Verduno hospital are guaranteed

The ASL Cn2 communicates that Monday 1st Julyon the occasion of the passage of the Tour de France, all the services offered by the Ferrero hospital in Verduno and by the territorial facilities will be fully guaranteed.

Following the information received regarding the traffic changes (including pedestrian) that will take place in the afternoon of July 1st and that will impact the city of Alba from 12.25 to 16.30 (in the areas of Altavilla, Viale Cherasca, Piazza Monsignor Grassi, Corso Michele Coppino, Via Don Alberione, Piazza Michele Ferrero, Corso Fratelli Bandiera, Via Giacomo Matteotti, Viale Torino and the “Ponte Vecchio” over the Tanaro), in order to best facilitate the use of services by its users, the Health Authority has contacted people with outpatient visits booked in the afternoon at the Alba offices (community house in Via Pierino Belli and facilities in Via Vida) for a rescheduling of appointments more suited to the possibilities of individuals to reach the facilities.
