WHAT’S MISSING AND WHAT’S THERE

It’s July 2nd, the transfer market has officially opened since yesterday but Fmore than that I’m eager to find out who the players in Palladino’s new Fiorentina will be which is being born. Waiting for the arrival of Moise Kean as the first official purchase, the choice not to renew any of the expiring players and to use the option only for Kouame requires further reflection on what operations Pradè, Goretti and the Viola transfer team will have to complete. Also because, as already announced weeks ago, the work is expected to be long and just look at the starting eleven who today – let’s repeat, July 2nd and with almost two months of transfer market open – should deploy Palladino in the 3-4-3 hypothesised as the initial module by the coach himself in the press conference.

Terracciano is always in goal
It is difficult, although not impossible, to think that Palladino’s Fiorentina will not start again with Terracciano between the posts. More likely, a farewell for Christensen and the arrival of another second, perhaps more prospective, but today San Pietro is still the starting goalkeeper for Fiorentina.

Abundance on the bands
There is one department in which, barring sensational offers and farewells, Fiorentina will not have to rebuild: the flanks. On the left Biraghi and Parisi, on the right Kayode and Dodo: Palladino has already given his approval to be able to start again from here and the Viola club believes it has one of the most valuable lateral departments in the entire Serie A. It only remains to understand who will be the starters and who the substitutes, but these are discussions to be made closer to the start of the championship. In the three of the attack then, the two lateral roles could initially be covered by Nico Gonzalez and Sottil with Kouame – pending any market developments – as the first alternative. Whether Palladino wants to focus more on the wingers or in the case in which he wants to bring the two closer to the striker, at least one reinforcement will have to arrive from the market: it probably won’t be Zaniolo, but the idea that led to the Galatasaray player moved precisely in this direction.

In defense Quarta-Milenkovic-Ranieri
While waiting for developments on the market (at least one defender will have to arrive, regardless of the promotions of Lucchesi or Comuzzo), Palladino will start building his three-man defense from Martinez Quarta, Milenkovic and Ranieri: the three will be able to work together in retreat only starting from the end of July given their commitments with the national team, but at least the backbone is already ready, with Quarta who will be able to make the most of the offensive growth he had last season, while Ranieri, who also played as a full-back in his career, will have to go back to moving like a defender in a three-man defense. Mission certainly not impossible.

The biggest doubts in midfield
The real question marks are on the midfield. Because if today the only “starters” that Palladino could count on are Mandragora and Bianco, then it means that something will have to be done on the market. Barak will be needed but not as a center, in any case the hunt has begun for the new Arthur who will be the linchpin of the Fiorentina to come. In addition to the various Vranckx, Brescianini and company who will be needed to provide alternatives after the farewells of Duncan, Castrovilli and Bonaventura.

Up front for now is the Beltran-Kean duo
Here too, waiting to see if another striker will arrive on the market, for now there are Beltran and Kean competing for a starting spot unless there is a change in formation. The striker arriving from Juventus has already shown that he can play alone in the centre of the attack, the Argentine still has to show it with continuity even if last season he was still able to make an impact in that role. Ball to the directors and Palladino: there is a new Fiorentina to form.
